Your London Trainee Support Flowcharts

Ideally training should flow smoothly from start to finish. However, we know this is not always the case, and with so many different professional bodies involved in our training, it can be difficult to know who to turn to if certain issues arise.

To get the most appropriate support it is important to raise your issue through the appropriate channels. The flowcharts below outline who to contact in the first place, and how to escalate your issue if you are need further support.

Who should London Trainees contact when things change?

The years between enrolment and graduation will pass without any major hiccups for most trainees. But through no fault of our own, circumstances can change unexpectedly.

When we’re busy adjusting to an unexpected change, we might forget to notify those behind the scenes. Whether you’re on the Scientist Training Programme or the Higher Specialist Scientist Training Programme in London, it’s important to let these stakeholders know simultaneously whenever things change:

  • National School of Healthcare Science (england.nshcs@nhs.net)
  • Healthcare Science Workforce Transformation Lead, NHS England-London (danielle.johnson22@nhs.net)

Why? The later they find out the harder it is to manage your transition.

Save their emails, just in case you ever need them:

england.nshcs@nhs.net
danielle.johnson22@nhs.net

London STP Experiences Survey 2017

Thank you to so many of you that took part in our recent survey to anonymously record the feedback of past and present STP trainees in London. This survey focused on the trainee’s first-hand experiences of the quality and organisation of their training in their host department and in departments where they completed rotations.

The Network has now collated this information in the form of a report which we will submit to the Expert Review Panel for the London STP Training Post Applications 2018/2019. Each year departments can submit applications to request new STP trainees and these are reviewed by the Panel to decide which bids will be successful. We hope that by feeding back the information from our survey to the Panel, this will help support the applications of the departments where trainees have had the best experiences of training.

For any trainee that has not yet completed the survey, there is still time to do so, although we won’t be able to include this data in our submitted report.
