A quick thank you to everyone who made it to our welcome event! We hope we gave you the welcome and congratulations you deserve.
After some delicious canapes and mingling, Layla Afkhami (3rd year STP at St George’s Hospital) gave us a great welcome and explained what the London Healthcare Science Trainee Network is here for and we then had an ice breaker session.
Next, John Short (Head of Laboratory, Genetics at St George’s Hospital) gave a fascinating presentation about non-invasive prenatal genetic screening in the NHS.
The evening was wrapped up by Lou Ive (2nd year STP, St George’s Hospital) running through the perks of living in London and working for the NHS. After a good bit of chat afterwards we retired to the nearest pub.
